Career Services

Our financial mathematics masters students receive individualized career support.

Your ultimate goal is to get a job that translates your skills and knowledge into organizational impact, and we support you in realizing your aspirations with a focus on career skill development.  Your studies in the MFM program will give you a technical tool set that is in high demand, but your ability to translate your knowledge and skills into compelling stories to prospective employers will truly differentiate you as you compete for your dream job.

Career Development Workshops

In the Fall & Spring semesters, you will attend workshops on career focused topics that include professional networking, building an effective LinkedIn profile, resume and cover letter writing, interviewing, and job search strategies.  You will also refine general professional skills such as project management, teamwork, and presentation skills.  Together, these lessons will make you more effective as a student and help you compete for and succeed in your work post-graduation.

Industry and Alumni Guest Speakers

During your time in the program you will have the opportunity to meet professionals from a wide range of industries, including diversified financial services, trading, insurance, data analytics, consulting, banking, asset management, and technology, among others.  While you may take advantage of speakers organized by the university and open to all students, you will also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive sessions dedicated to MFM students, representing organizations with a history of hiring MFM graduates.

Team Projects

Our goal is to provide you with as much industry-relevant experience as possible and during the program you will contribute to multiple projects that focus on current issues in quantitative finance. These projects will give you real-world practice with these subjects, but also give you both recent and relevant experiences to highlight on your resume and during interviews with employers. Some projects will be assigned as part of your classes, while others are assigned as developmental opportunities during the summer.

Summer Projects with Industry Mentor

Project experience is a very important part of our student training. Students who do not participate in a summer internship will work full time for 10-12 weeks during the summer on industry originated projects under the supervision of industry mentors. These projects culminate in a final presentation to alumni and industry representatives and these guests will provide feedback and advice to our students.
