Skills: Python, C++/C, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Quantitative Research
Bio
Tyler Pelling earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with minors in Finance and Economics, from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Canada. His path to quantitative finance was unconventional as he began his career as an electrician, teaching himself about financial markets in his spare time through nearly a decade of active trading and equity research that eventually drew him to the field. He has since built a machine learning pairs trading system with backtesting across 31,000+ trades and a low-latency C++ options analysis tool for real-time arbitrage detection. His professional experience includes software development internships and his most recent role as a Data Science intern at Danger Devices, where he built data pipelines and analytics tooling. Tyler is pursuing the Data Science for Finance track of the Master of Financial Mathematics program and aims to build a career in quantitative analysis, algorithmic trading, or trading systems development. Away from the markets, he races shifter karts, a pursuit that rewards the same precision and composure under pressure.
