Our future students are highly qualified applicants with strong backgrounds in mathematics and computing, who are ready to challenge themselves academically and professionally and dive into the world of finance. Successful applicants to our program have had majors in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics and Engineering. In addition we have accepted applicants with doctorates and masters, including in Business Administration.
Application Requirements
Transcripts
- Official transcript(s) from all universities attended
- Must include a minimum of 6 semesters of completed coursework towards an undergraduate degree
- Transcript(s) must also include the following:
- Name of institution
- Your name
- Your Degree and major
- Degree Awarded (Completed date) if applicable
- All courses listed by name, grades and dates of attendance
- Cumulative CPA (international transcripts) or GPA (U.S. transcripts only)
- International applicants with a 3-year bachelors must also provide a credentialed evaluation to be uploaded with their transcript(s)
- The Graduate School may consider a 3-year bachelors and a completed 1 or 2-year masters as equivalent to a 4-year bachelors degree. Applicants would need to provide all relevant academic transcripts for review and consideration.
GRE (Optional)
- A strong GRE General Test score can increase your chance of admission
- GRE scores are valid for 5 years after test date

Three (3) Academic or Professional Recommendations
Recommenders can be past or current professors, as well as supervisors or managers.
A Personal Statement
- Applicants should provide 1 or 2 pages for their personal statement
- A personal statement could include why you want to purse graduate studies in financial mathematics; provide additional insight with regards to your application; as well as highlight any future goals.
Resume or CV
All applicants must upload their professional resume (CV) with their application.
Proof of English (international and permanent residents only)
- Proof of English guidelines are set by the Graduate School
- Applicants must provide official TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo scores
- Applicants must meet all minimum requirements, unless they qualify for an exemption (refer to guidelines for qualifying exemptions)

Additional Qualifications
A minimum 3.0 GPA for a U.S. based bachelors degree is required for admission consideration. Successful applicants in the past have had an average 3.5 GPA or, if international, above 80% cumulative average.
A strong undergraduate mathematics background is also helpful, which could include courses taken in calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics.
Work experience is not required but can be beneficial.
Important Deadlines
International applicants should pay attention to the Graduate School’s priority deadlines. Applicants are considered domestic if they are U.S. Citizens or U.S. permanent residents.
