Bio

Burke King is completing the Accelerated Bachelor’s-to-Master’s program at NC State, having earned a bachelor of science in Applied Mathematics with a Finance concentration and a bachelor of science in Economics. He also holds additional minors in Statistics and Accounting. Burke has passed several actuarial examinations, including P and FM, and he has also earned VEE credit for Accounting, Finance and Economics. This will be Burke’s second year as the Cymbal Captain of the NC State Power Sound of the South Marching band, and he plans to continue his involvement in the jazz ensembles and basketball pep band. In 2024, Burke completed an internship in the Reserving division at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Fairfield, OH, where his work focused on the refinement of the existing Salvage and Subrogation reserves. In 2025, Burke completed an internship with the tax collector for the City of Burlington, NC, where his focus related to auditing and extensive background research of residents that owe property taxes. Burke restored the Actuarial Science Club at NC State after a four-year hiatus, serving as the President for the 2024-2025 academic year. Burke hopes to enhance the club further this year as the Vice President while he expands his connections with a career goal of obtaining a full-time actuarial position.
